Let's Grab A Coffee

I get a lot of invitations to grab coffee and chat about investing in real estate syndications. Recently I have come to the conclusion that not all coffee is created equal. No, I would not consider myself a coffee snob nor a connoisseur, but I can tell you that I have developed preferences after experiencing great coffee from great coffee shops.

I can certainly appreciate the difference between drinking freshly ground coffee from boutique sources and your average bag coffee. Here are a few reasons why fresh, boutique coffee not only tastes better but is also better for you:

Freshness: The biggest difference between fresh, boutique coffee and bag coffee is freshness. Boutique coffee is often roasted in small batches, ensuring that the coffee you are drinking is as fresh as possible. On the other hand, bag coffee can sit on store shelves for months before it is sold, resulting in a loss of flavor and potency.

Quality of Beans: Another major difference is the quality of the beans used. Boutique coffee shops carefully source their beans from only the best, most sustainable producers. This results in a much higher quality of coffee, with richer, more complex flavors and a better overall experience. This is my favorite reason... come on. Have you ever smelled freshly ground, high quality coffee beans??

Sustainability: Boutique coffee shops are often focused on sustainability, ensuring that the coffee you are drinking is not only delicious but ethically produced. This not only supports local communities but also helps to preserve the environment for future generations. I personally have been a huge fan of Alto Grande and also Draco Rosa since they are local coffee farmers and are responsible cultivators of this fine drink.

Health Benefits: Fresh, boutique coffee contains a higher amount of antioxidants and nutrients than bag coffee. Antioxidants are important for protecting the body against free radicals, which can cause damage to cells and lead to chronic diseases such as cancer. Additionally, drinking fresh coffee has been linked to a lower risk of heart disease, liver disease, and type 2 diabetes. According to Gary Brecka, Human Biologist at Grant Cardone's 10X Health, it also helps lower the acidity in your stomach.

Artisanal Approach: Boutique coffee shops take a more artisanal approach to their craft, carefully selecting and roasting each bean to bring out its unique flavor profile. This means that every cup of coffee is a unique experience, with a different flavor profile, aroma, and mouthfeel.

Support for Small Businesses: When you buy boutique coffee, you are supporting small, local businesses. This not only helps to create jobs but also strengthens the local economy, ensuring that your community thrives.

Connection to the Source: Boutique coffee shops often have direct relationships with the farmers and cooperatives that produce the coffee they serve. This allows them to learn about the unique challenges and triumphs of each harvest, providing a deeper connection to the source of the coffee.

Drinking fresh, boutique coffee is not only a more enjoyable experience but also a healthier one. From the higher quality of the beans to the artisanal approach to roasting, boutique coffee offers a range of benefits that simply cannot be found in your average bag coffee. So the next time you invite me for a cup of coffee, consider choosing a boutique source for a truly elevated experience. Not just because I'll bring a magical conversation, but because of the great coffee as well.
